ABOUT NICK LANING
I\'m a former student-athlete obsessed with efficiency. In college that meant finding the most effective ways to study to make time for running 100 miles a week while still having time to spend with friends, but now it means automating existing workflows and developing new workflows to accomplish tasks faster and more accurately.In addition to designing site plans and navigating the permitting process for Development Services projects at Kimley-Horn, I\'ve been lucky enough to join the Efficiency Consulting Team. As an Efficiency Consulting Team Lead, I\'ve had the opportunity to leverage my skills in Python, VBA and Power Query to process and analyze data for a wide variety of Civil Engineering projects across the firm, while helping other members of the team develop their coding and Excel skills. We\'ve reduced the time analysts spend on repetitive tasks by hundreds of hours, allowing them to focus their energy on unique design challenges that require the problem solving skills that are at the heart of any engineering career.
