ABOUT NICK KIRKHORN

I am a government affairs leader who focuses on: achieving policy wins; building and implementing strategic engagement plans; and, being an impactful team player while also improving team functionality. I am motivated by government affairs efforts that have measurable, bottom-line impact - and developing beneficial policies related to energy and technology. I work across business functions and engage outside stakeholders (industry peers, trade associations, etc.) to reach consensus positions on critical policies. I utilize strong written communication skills as lead author of policy language, persuasive letters, white papers, and complex regulatory comments. For the past 15+ years, I have worked at two Fortune 500 companies where I focused on energy and environmental regulatory and legislative policy. From this experience, I understand the critical \"make or break\" role that government policy plays related to energy infrastructure permitting and construction, and also for nascent/emerging energy technologies. Earlier in my career, I worked at a management consulting firm, a trade association, and the White House. My areas of expertise include:* Shaping and responding to regulations impacting energy infrastructure development* Setting, tracking and advancing energy and environmental policy priorities* Detailed policy analysis and interpretation* Congressional, state and local lobbying* Strategic engagement of internal and external stakeholders* Technical and persuasive writingIn my free time, I am an enthusiast photographer and watercolor artist with a focus on architecture and landscape.
