Responsibilities:• Consistently generate innovative and impactful local news story ideas, keeping content fresh and relevant. • Report from the field, gathering interviews, audio and visual content to create dynamic, high-quality radio segments. • Coordinate and conduct in-depth, in-person interviews with a range of subjects to enhance storytelling. • Thrive under pressure by delivering live, accurate and compelling coverage during breaking news, often with minimal preparation. • Capture and produce professional-grade video content in the field. • Anchor live broadcasts from WTOP studios, seamlessly operating technical equipment while collaborating with producers and editors. • Partner with national radio outlets to craft stories of nationwide significance. • Host and produce long-form, on-camera shows for WTOP\'s website with station clients, delivering in-depth interviews to engage digital audiences. • Maintain a sharp focus on trending topics, political developments, and pop culture.Highlights of Historical Coverage:• Reporting on location from Coast Guard boat at disaster site of 2024 Baltimore bridge collapse• Reporting live on location at D.C. funeral procession for former President Jimmy Carter•The 2025 inauguration of President Donald Trump• The 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol• Exclusive interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci at the height of the pandemic • On site coverage as Pope Francis makes historic visit to D.C.
