Spent my first seven months working in the resurfacing department where I followed construction plans and monitored various types of construction work to ensure work was getting done properly. This including inspecting excavation of roadways and curbs, pouring of concrete, laying of asphalt, and performing final checks to ensure work was done correctly. Was responsible for working on 10+ projects and for being onsite everyday around the city. At the end of each work day, I was responsible for measuring the work completeled and signing off on paysheets with the construction foremen.The rest of my time at the City of Columbus, I have been in a materials testing lab. This involves going out to sites to inspect testing of sewege and water drains, as well as collecting samples from quarries and concrete facilities. In the lab I test various materials such as pipe, concrete, asphalt, and agregate to ensure materials are up to code. I am also responsible for reviewing specification books and checking to make sure the City\'s guidelines are in line with manufacture\'s guidelines.
