Trained to Chartered status as both a scientist and an engineer followed by ten years of experience in the oil & gas, power generation, aerospace and defence industries. Starting as a technologist, migrated progressively into strategic planning, marketing and business development. Subsequently worked for eight years in the City as a technology sector investment banker. From 2005 to 2013, worked as an independent consultant specialising in the financing and commercialisation of new technologies, including various interim management positions (CEO/CFO). In 2011, started to collaborate on a novel wind energy concept with an erstwhile colleague from my days in industry and in 2013 helped him to set up Spinetic Energy Limited to commercialise the technology. Having raised four rounds of funding for Spinetic, left the company in 2019 in order to work with a wider portfolio of early stage technology companies through my appointment as the UK Venture Partner of the Colorado-based VC fund Factor[e] Ventures.Key skills include corporate finance, negotiation, strategic analysis, business planning and marketingSpecialties: Business plan development, due diligence, R&D programme management, technology transfer, financing start-up and spin-out companies, usually as an interim CFO.
