Develop, plan, and direct natural resource restoration activities on District holdings requiring project management and coordination between various departments, contractors, consultants, engineers, volunteers, and agencies. This position is critical in magnifying staff and volunteer Natural Resource Management (NRM) capacity by identifying and implementing select specialized or large scale projects central to achieving the District mission.Evaluates, develops, and defines long term Natural Resource Management (NRM) program and policy goals to restore natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora, fauna and scenic beauty of District natural resources. Utilizes a Work Breakdown Structure to develop and implement workable protocols, plans, and projects to achieve District resource needs.Serves as project manager for in-house, contracted, and interagency large scale projects of ecological importance to ensure District and NRM goals are implemented and standards are upheld. Projects include invasive and exotic species control, prescription burning, hydrological restoration, structure enhancement, and restocking of native flora for wetlands, woodlands, grassland, and riparian communities. Duties include all phases of project management including initiating, funding development, planning and design, execution and construction, monitoring and control systems, and completion of habitat restoration projects. Project management responsibilities include developing the scope and plan, managing and coordinating the project stakeholders and team, and managing risk, quality, procurement, schedule, budget, conflict resolution, communication (public and internal), and ultimate successful project delivery. Uses cost to benefit analysis to determine efficient and effective use of in-house and contractual labor forces to attain project goals.
