About Nick Donald
Engineer and founder focused on building software and hardware systems at many levels of technology infrastructure, from bare-metal microcontroller programming to database administration and everything in between. At Farmshelf, I lead development and deployment of a nation-wide network of internet connected farms, building or contributing to every aspect of the electronics and software system, including embedded control, firmware, server-side systems, and consumer-facing apps- Managed software, firmware, and electrical engineers as well as product managers- Worked closely with mechanical engineering director to plan new product development cycles from conception to mass manufacturing- Architect and build embedded control systems for internet-connected vertical farms- Architect and build API and network infrastructure for farm network- Electrical engineering literacy including PCB/A schematics and layouts (EAGLE, Altium), wire harness design, whole system architecture, data communication protocols (USB, Modbus)- Help lead the regulatory process for the Farmshelf unit, both for UL/ETL safety regulation and FCC wireless regulation- Build diagnostic/end-of-line testing software systems for product testing- Visit contract manufacturer factory floor and coordinate closely with CM program manager and engineering leadership- Recruited and interviewed new software, firmware, and electrical engineers and build roadmaps for future product innovation
