ABOUT NICK CUNNINGHAM
I have a strong passion for making what seems impossible- possible. I have a very diverse background in sport performance coaching and professional development at all athletic levels. While I love building championship caliber teams, my true passion is creating championship-caliber people through sport. I hold a B.A. in Communications from Boise State University and a M.S. in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a Concentration in Coaching Education from Ohio University. After the completion of my NCAA Division 1 track and field and Junior College football careers, I transferred my talents to a new sport and became a 3-time Olympian and National Champion for Team USA. Additionally, during this time as an athlete, I served 7 years in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the prestigious World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). As a Sergeant and Team Leader, I engaged in community outreach programs along with public speaking engagements. After the 2018 Olympic Games, I retired as an athlete and was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army to pursue my passion of coaching and mentoring student-athletes.I have developed many skills over my years as an athlete and coach, including interpersonal communication, leadership, competitive analysis, goal setting, and prioritizing deadlines. I have also acquired a strong understanding of the NCAA rules and regulations as well as a strong ability to recruit and retain successful and qualified athletes. I understand the importance of clear communication, working cohesively with all members of the team’s support staff, and how to create a culture of excellence and working for one another. I ask my athletes to be the best versions of themselves every day and I will continue to hold myself to that same standard. I look forward to our connection and changing the world one student-athlete at a time.
