ABOUT NICK BENT
Nick has a strong track record of leadership across the business, government and charity sectors, both as a senior professional and through non-executive, advisory and trustee positions (including two Chair roles). Born and brought up in Manchester, Nick was the first person in his family to attend university and was educated at Oxford and Harvard and then spent fifteen years living and working in London. Based back in the North of England since 2007, he is currently CEO of the national social mobility charity upReach. Prior to this, Nick was Co-Founder and CEO of the multi-award winning education charity The Tutor Trust and played a key role in the delivery of the National Tutoring Programme. In addition, he served as a national director and trustee of Oasis Community Learning from 2008 to 2024 and was on the General Assembly of the University of Manchester from 2011 to 2020. In February 2024, Nick was awarded the University\'s prestigious Medal of Honour in recognition of his contribution to the university and the city of Manchester, alongside his Co-Founder of The Tutor Trust, Abigail Shapiro. In June 2020, Nick received his first public appointment as a member of the Advisory Board to the Children\'s Commissioner for England. Nick is a 2017 Clore Social Leadership Fellow and a Fellow of the RSA.
