About Nick Meltzer
Nick is passionate about using transportation to achieve broader societal goals. His experience living, working, and traveling the world as a pedestrian, cyclist, and transit user has underscored his belief that cities are more similar than different, and applying universal design principles is paramount to success. With an undergraduate degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in community and regional planning from the University of Oregon, Nick has overseen field investigations, inspected the construction of bridge foundations, responded to natural disasters, evaluated road diets, designed buffered bike lanes on state highways, and coordinated eight transit agencies in three counties to provide seamless traveler information. At Kittelson, Nick works at the intersection of land use, planning, and design by focusing on implementable solutions to local transportation challenges. His work in transportation planning, engineering, and policy helps him communicate across disciplines and bring diverse groups to consensus. A self-described fan of people, bikes, and bread, Nick spends his free time baking, mountain biking, or trying out new transit systems with his wife.
