About Nicholas Hussey

I am an innovative HR Executive with experience working on five continents. This has shaped my values and leadership style. I believe that: Relationships are critical to the success of individuals & organizations Quality, thoughtful communication is at the core of managing both complex & challenging scenarios It is our responsibility to co-create inclusive work environments where everyone can perform & thrive. I started my career teaching English in Greece, Macedonia, & central Africa; I found teaching satisfying, which resulted in a move into Training & Development. In that capacity, I had the opportunity to develop operational knowledge and managerial skills via training and informal coaching. This evolved into a position as an HR generalist, where I worked to drive excellence into each part of the employee lifecycle, from recruiting to compensation and through to performance management. I have had the opportunity to manage international teams, mentor hundreds of employees, and work in complex organizational structures, including Shared Services & matrixed environments. I have also: Managed the HR function with increasing scope and complexity year-over-year (YOY), including business units of >1,300 staff members and contributing >$650M to the business Helped reduce complexity, improved customer service, and delivered savings of $11M YOY in a single project, in addition to designing a workforce planning system that saved >30 days annually in a single process Led dozens of special projects with high payoffs, including creating new compensation structures for Operations, implementing new HRIS, and coordinating international reorganizations.I am consistently praised for my drive for excellence and ability to communicate even the most challenging messages with clarity, respect, & efficiency. The professional achievement I am most proud of is the long relationships I have established with colleagues in all parts of the world. Others seek and trust my counsel and judgment when they need help solving complex business or career problems.As an immigrant to the US and as someone who has spent 90% of my professional career working outside of my home country (UK), I am grateful for the invaluable experiences working internationally has afforded me, both personally & professionally. This continues to inform my commitment to inclusiveness & diversity at all levels of the organizations in which I work. On a personal level, I reside in Houston, TX. I am a father of two, an avid traveler, reader, & a collector of first editions.
