Program:Automated Vehicles and the Law (new course, spring semester, 2019)_Product Liability Law & Practice Advanced Product LiabilityAdvanced Product Liability (Topics in Torts) Seminar CourseThe class is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to become effective product liability litigators and also counselors to product designers and manufacturers. This course is divided into four parts:(1) Product Liability Law;(2) Product Liability Litigation Practice;(3) Product Safety and Liability (counseling manufacturers on the development of safe products); and (4) Product Regulation (how the safety regulation process works and how regulations can be important evidence in a product liability class). The Product Safety and Liability Prevention section involves the study of “autonomous” vehicles as well as ‘connected vehicles” (vehicle-to-vehicle communication technologies). Advanced Civil Procedure, International Civil Litigation (Separate Courses)These course provide students with a solid understanding of domestic civil procedure and then move to the essentials of complex litigation and international practice. This includes the subject matter jurisdiction of federal and state courts over claims involving international parties. Civil Litigation Procedure & Practice for Foreign-Educated Lawyers, LL.M Program This course explains the US litigation process and its international reach, including special rules & treaties, in order to equip foreign-educated lawyers with the knowledge & skills to manage international civil litigation in US courts.*This was also taught as a 2-credit course in Spring 2013 at the MSU College of Law’s Dubai, United Arab Emirates Campus.
