ABOUT NICHOLAS VOUTSINAS
As a physician, my primary experiences have been in the health care field. I have had the opportunity to work and train in urban public hospitals, urban academic hospitals, and suburban community hospitals, which have given me a wide range of experiences throughout the way health care is delivered to patients. My primary focus is providing excellent medical care for my patients and training to become a better physician, every single day, while still leaving time to explore my other professional interests. I have always been interested in teaching others, which is a primary tenet of medicine. Whether it is teaching students, peers, or my patients, I am always grateful to have the ability to pass on my knowledge to others. I am an avid clinical researcher who has had multiple oral and poster presentations at national meetings on topics ranging from medical education to diagnostic and interventional radiology. My research has also afforded me the opportunity to have manuscripts published on various radiology topics. The skill that has allowed me to be successful with research is writing. I have been an avid writer since high school by being involved in the school newspaper as a writer and editor, and interning at the local newspaper, the Staten Island Advance. When I went to college and medical school, I again became involved in the school newspaper and took elective courses in Journalism and Creative Writing in order to improve my writing skills. Now as a physician I am able to write abstracts and manuscripts at a proficient level by using the skills I was able to learn throughout my educational and professional career.
