ABOUT NICHOLAS PEK
I aspire to become a clinical neuropsychologist, driven by a commitment to understanding the brain’s most complex failures and helping the people whose lives are reshaped by them. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, working toward better diagnostic tools, earlier detection, and more effective interventions.I am especially interested in the connection between dementia and traumatic brain injuries. The possibility that repeated or severe head trauma can set the stage for long-term cognitive decline raises crucial scientific questions. These questions demand clearer evidence and practical solutions. I hope to take part in research that uncovers how TBIs alter neural pathways, how those changes intersect with the progression of dementia, and how this knowledge can be used to protect at-risk individuals long before deterioration takes hold.Ultimately, I want to work at the intersection of clinical practice and research. My aim is to translate scientific insight into real and measurable support for patients and families who are facing some of the most challenging diagnoses in medicine
