ABOUT NICHOLAS M. SHANER
With over 15 years of experience across universities, community colleges, and high schools, including dual credit courses, I\'ve had a wonderfully varied career in education. My roles have spanned teaching, tutoring, advising, recruiting, coaching, assessment, and curriculum development. I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in English, doing research in areas like Cultural Poetics, Hemispheric Studies, Early American Literature, and Composition Pedagogy. This broad academic expertise has given me a solid foundation to approach education from a variety of perspectives. Outside the classroom, I ventured into entrepreneurship and managed a small business with 15-20 employees for six years. This experience sharpened my skills in leadership, strategic planning, and juggling the myriad roles required in small business management.
