ABOUT NICHOLAS LEAH

I am a barrister at 3 Hare Court Chambers in London, currently ranked as a “Rising Star” (tier 1) by the Legal 500 in both the UK Bar and the Offshore 2026 rankings. I have a busy and varied courtroom and written practice with a focus on commercial litigation (including aviation, construction, insurance, banking and financial services, and digital assets), international arbitration, civil fraud, insolvency and company, and public law. I have particular expertise in matters of private international law, including jurisdiction, applicable law, injunctions (anti-suit and freezing), and the recognition / enforcement of judgments. I have appeared as sole counsel in several reported cases in the High Court of England and Wales, and I have assisted with cases before the UK Supreme Court, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, the English Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Gibraltar. I also take an academic interest in the law, having previously worked as a Visiting Lecturer at City, University of London, during which time I won the City Law School Teaching Excellence Award.Before being called to the Bar of England and Wales, I obtained the following qualifications- BA in History from University College London (First Class Honours)- MPhil in History from Lincoln College, University of Oxford (Distinction in thesis)- Graduate Diploma in Law from City, University of London (Distinction)- Bar Course from City, University of London (Distinction)- LLM in Commercial Law from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge (First Class Honours)- Private International Law Course from The Hague Academy of International Law (Scholar).
