Responsible for system and component level simulations of electrified marine propulsors (outboards). In this role, I develop models of each component in the system (motor, inverter, battery, controllers, etc.) with varying degrees of fidelity. These models are then combined into a full system model to extract fundamental insight about the design and operation of the overall system (electrical, thermal, and mechanical behavior). Key highlights include: – Development of software tool (in Python) to extract non-linear flux-linkage based motor models from data (for PMSMs) – Development of a field oriented control (FOC) based motor motion controller (in Simulink) – Inverter loss modeling (in Simscape, and analytic tool developed in Python) – Battery cell modeling (model extraction tool developed in Python) – DC link capacitor sizing – Drive cycle analysis and range prediction
