ABOUT NICHOLAS BRUSBY
Highly motivated mathematician with multiple years of experience in the aerospace sector. I am currently employed by Rolls-Royce Plc in the company’s Defence Aerospace sector. My main areas of expertise are Design of Mechanical Systems and Structures, Numerical Analysis Methods, Statistics, and Project Management. I am also highly experienced with coding in Python and utilising High Performance Computing within these areas.I am proficient at using hand calculations, as well as multiple FEA software packages, including LS-Dyna, ANSYS Workbench, and ALTAIR Optistruct.In addition to this, through my current and past employment I have gained experience managing budgets, leading projects, supporting others, reviewing and approving reports, and sentencing concessions.I am both a Chartered Mathematician with the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), and a Chartered Engineer with the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). I am currently the chair of the Southwest and Wales branch of the IMA, and previously I have been the Chair of the institute’s Early Career Mathematicians Committee and a member of its council.With the RAeS I am a member of the Bristol Branch\'s committee and also a professional mentor for the institute.
