ABOUT NIAMH BYRNE
Schools Programme Manager at Opera North. In particular I\'m thrilled to manage In Harmony, which delivers music education in thirteen schools across West Yorkshire. I\'m passionate about developing creative learning opportunities for young people within and through arts and culture, and meaningful experiences in the creative industries to boost employability and awareness of the sector.I\'m an advocate for the importance of arts and culture, with a strong interest in arts education, youth voice initiatives, co-creation and engagement opportunities. My work to date includes the areas of music education, arts management and administration, community engagement and project leadership, particularly within the arts, culture and education sectors. I\'ve worked with a diverse range of children and young people in formal and informal education spaces; leading teams and motivating individuals and groups. I enjoy building connections and have experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships. I continue to be interested in the areas of arts management, creative arts education, team leadership, community engagement, music and arts teaching, facilitation, project management and co-ordination.My MA Arts Management, Policy and Practice at the University of Manchester allowed me to carry out focused research on sustaining creative learning and engagement activity for children and young people within arts organisations. This furthered my interest in this area of work, alongside arts education and creative engagement practices more broadly.As a musician and music graduate, I have experience of music teaching, performance, composition, facilitation, leadership and management. I have a fully enhanced DBS check in the UK, registered with the online update service.
