I am a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator with 7+ years of combined operational and HSE experience in the renewable energy sector. My career began as a qualified Carpenter before progressing into solar maintenance as a Technician and Field Service Engineer, where I gained valuable hands-on technical experience. Transitioning into HSE allowed me to combine this practical background with my passion for safety and compliance — giving me a unique edge over many in my field. I don’t just understand the regulations; I understand the real-world challenges faced on site, because I’ve worked there myself.Currently at Lightsource bp, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, I coordinate HSE initiatives across UK operations, embedding a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, and driving continuous improvement across solar sites.Key responsibilities and achievements include:•Chairing the UK-wide Health & Safety Reps Committee, creating a platform for collaboration, transparency, and improvement across regions.•Delivering risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring hazards are identified early and corrective actions implemented effectively.•Overseeing contractor safety and CDM compliance, validating RAMS/CPPs/Onboarding/PQQ’s and ensuring safe delivery of large-scale renewable projects.•Managing fire safety protocols and driving ergonomic improvements through DSE assessments.•Owning HSE reporting and KPI analysis, including RIDDOR, ESQCR, and safety performance tracking for senior leadership.•Progressing through a management mentoring programme, with direct responsibility for supporting and developing ongoing safety related projects.I am NEBOSH certified, IOSH accredited, and fluent in Welsh and English, combining technical credibility with strong communication skills to deliver safe, compliant, and high-performing operations.I am committed to growing within HSE leadership and developing my expertise further, while staying open to opportunities that challenge me, enhance my skills, and expand my contribution to safe and sustainable operations.
