About Jolie Ng

I fell in love with numbers watching football. Witnessing the Patriots\' dominance from the bleachers of Gillette Stadium was when I realized what I wanted to do in my life. While everyone around me was caught up in the roar of the crowd, I was tracking patterns. Routes. Yards. Efficiency ratios. I started to see the quiet math behind every reception and every touchdown. And somewhere between a perfectly executed Belichick play call and a Brady two-minute drill, I realized: data tells stories. And I’m obsessed with finding them. I’m currently double majoring in Data Science and Physics at UVA, but those are just the tools I use to solve problems. What really motivates me is figuring out the impossible. I’ve used predictive models to reconstruct the structure of ancient Maya temples, built algorithms to weed out bot interference in public surveys, and trained machine learning systems to predict the behavior of 2D material. But no matter what I\'m doing, the idea is always the same. I want to find the patterns hidden within a sea of numbers and turn it into something useful. Recently, I interned with the Department of Social Work at the University of Hong Kong on a public health data initiative, where I analyzed engagement data from workshops for families managing childhood eczema. I used regression models and multivariate analysis to pinpoint key performance factors that improved program effectiveness. I also processed large-scale survey data and designed clustering and random forest algorithms to detect and eliminate bot activity. This experience improved my ability to extract signal from noise and conduct data modeling, skills that I\'m confident I can bring over to the finance industry alongside my creative problem-solving approach and contribute meaningfully.
