ABOUT NICK GERINGER

Nick is a corporate associate at McCarthy Tétrault’s Toronto office where he is developing his interest and experience across business, financial regulatory, and privacy law. Nick leverages his diverse multidisciplinary professional and educational experiences to provide innovative companies and founders with practical advice about their legal and regulatory objectives across various stages of growth and financing, with an emphasis on the technology, fintech, and life sciences sectors. Prior to completing his JD at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, Nick earned his Honours Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in Canada (CIPP/C). For his final semester of law school, Nick completed a placement with the initio Technology & Innovation Law Clinic, where he supported entrepreneurs and start-ups in the Maritimes with their business, IP, and privacy law matters. As a Research Assistant in the summer after 1L, Nick examined geopolitical and cybersecurity issues of critical infrastructure and assisted with the design and delivery of a cyber law and policy course. Before law school, Nick complemented his studies with practical experiences across the public sector. As a Strategic Analyst with Ontario\'s Treasury Board Secretariat during the pandemic, Nick assisted with tabling the provincial budget, frequently drafted briefing notes on short timelines, and briefed senior officials and Cabinet members on several multimillion-dollar emergency funding requests. Throughout the summers of his undergrad, Nick gained research experience at Toronto General Hospital’s Department of Pathology, and held policy roles with Ontario’s Ministry of Health and the Rural Ontario Medical Program. During his undergrad, Nick oversaw the entire peer review process of the Journal of Young Investigators, an international, undergraduate-led, multidisciplinary journal, reviewing dozens of manuscripts ranging from neuroscience to behavioural economics. He is now part of their Board of Directors and mentors undergraduate research editors.
