About Daniel Neumann

I have twenty years of experience in policy work, government relations, media, and data analysis. At ACMA I work with the other professionals to make composites the sustainable material of preference. Prior to my current role, I was the principal strategic advisor to two trade associations with complex international supply chains while at Sorini, Samet & Associates. I provided comprehensive analysis of policy issues and advised clients on sourcing, legislative and media strategy. I lead efforts that culminated in the bipartisan introduction, sponsorship, and passage of legislation. This includes leading private sector coalitions to support these legislative efforts. In addition I have written successful product petitions under the Generalized System of Preferences program and requests for new statistical reporting numbers under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule at the 484(f) Committee at the International Trade Commission. I have also successfully crafted Section 301 tariff exclusions in every round, and secured numerous extensions. I have testified before the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the International Trade Commission on behalf of numerous clients. In addition to legislation and policy papers, I have drafted proposals and contracts.Prior to joining SSA I served two years on the Democratic staff of the Joint Economic Committee, working for Chairman Robert Casey and Vice Chair Amy Klobuchar. I organized hearings examining the manufacturing sector, wrote committee reports and floor statements, and provided voting recommendations on free trade agreements.I served as a trade and economic analyst with the U.S-China Economic and Security Review Commission. I evaluated U.S. and Chinese policy measures for their impact on the U.S. economy. I helped research, edit, and write two annual reports to Congress on major policy developments in the bilateral relationship.Prior to my government service, I worked as a journalist covering technical, political and legal aspects of U.S. trade policy, including legislation, World Trade Organization obligations and disputes, currency policy, trade negotiations, and trade remedies, including countervailing and antidumping duties and safeguards.I served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT with fifteen years of experience in emergency medicine and over 9 years experience firefighting, with numerous certifications. I am registered to perform weddings in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.
