ABOUT NESSA WRAFTER

Award-winning writer and director, Nessa Wrafter, was chosen by the screenwriter/showrunner Lisa McGee (Derry Girls, The Deceived, Being Human) for one-to-one mentorship as part of the BBC/ITV Mentorship Scheme with Dancing Ledge Productions. Lisa selected Nessa’s TV pilot script and series pitch for Reunion, developing it with her to take to international broadcasters. Nessa wrote the penultimate episode of Series 3 of Smother for RTE/BBC Studios, which will be aired in early 2023 on RTE1. Currently she is writing episodes of a new primetime RTE1 thriller series for Treasure/BBC Studios and a True Crime series for BBC3,(also via BBC Studios)- both shooting in early 2023. She is also in development on an original TV project which she created,(through the RTE Storyland scheme), with Treasure Entertainment as a returnable series. In 2018, Nessa wrote and directed the short film, Early Days, starring Maimie McCoy (Van Der Valk, Musketeers, White House Farm) and Adrian Bower (Gangs of London, The Last Kingdom), which was screened at numerous Oscar and Bafta-qualifying festivals internationally, winning multiple awards on the festival circuit. In 2019, she created the web series Fame Disease, directing two episodes, co-produced with Kate Magowan and John Simm’s Magic Alex Productions, and the production company she co-owns with Simon Killick, Klick Productions. The series was shortlisted for a British Comedy Guide Pro Talent Award.
