About Nereida Jimenez
My name is Nereida Jimenez, and I am a fourth-year Marketing major with a Management Information Systems minor at the McCombs School of Business. I am a first-generation college student and a first-generation Mexican American originally from San Antonio, Texas. I hope to gain valuable real-world experience during my undergraduate studies that will help me in my future career. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, paddle boarding, and listening to podcasts. I’m currently a Student Marketing Assistant for Texas Performing Arts which offers a diverse season of music, theatre, dance, and conversation. There I’m responsible for gathering proof of performance for executed digital media marketing campaigns. During my time there I have added nine publications to submit campaigns to regularly. On campus, I served as the Director of Events and a Social Media Content Creator for SPARK, an editorial print and online publication focused on fashion, lifestyle, and culture for 4 semesters. Being a part of SPARK has given me the opportunity to develop my leadership and teamworking skills. As the Director of Events, my team and I would coordinate 6-8 events a semester for 250-300 people to enhance community within the organization. As a Linkedin and Facebook Content Creator, I wrote copy for engaging content to highlight our members and have introduced two new post series. During Summer 2022 I studied Urban Economic Development at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa taught by Dr. Leonard Moore & Dr. Darren Kelly. While there we heard from various political leaders to understand the effects of apartheid on the economy and interned at Ubizo tour which offers cultural tours of Langa, the oldest and most historic township in Cape Town.
