Provide instruction in both English and Spanish to predominantly low income 8th grade students at Wedgewood Park Middle School- Create and execute curriculum in both English and Spanish based on unit plans designed by the Middle Years’ International Baccalaureate model- Led professional development sessions for staff geared towards English Language Arts curriculum design and schoolwide culture and climate through coaching, book studies, presentations, audio/visual aids, handbooks and documentation- Utilize both qualitative and qualitative data to guide instruction such as monthly progress monitoring via STAR tests, surveys that are tailored to students’ interests, previous FORWARD exam results and habitual feedback loops with students- Guided staff on utilization of STAR data, both qualitative and quantitative, and supported their efforts on creating feedback loops with their students- Collaborate with staff at Wedgewood to create, coordinate and implement instruction of ELA unit plans for over 150 students- Plan, develop, organize and implement a comprehensive development and training plan including functional skills and technical knowledge training for new English Language Art teachers- Guide over 100 students year round to develop and complete community based service learning school projects- Organize and host attendance and positive behavior based events such as dances, potluck, field trips and field days- Communicate with over 20 families on a weekly basis in both English and Spanish to have them involved in both my classroom and in our school culture - Coordinate field trips which included communicating with businesses and locales to schedule trips, manage collection of money and managing students outside of a school setting.
