ABOUT NELI RAGINA
Dr. Neli Ragina serves as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education (UME & GME) Research and Associate Professor of Genetics at the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. She holds two Master of Science degrees—one in Molecular Biology from the University of Sofia and another in Clinical and Biomedical Investigations from the USC Keck School of Medicine—as well as a Ph.D. in Genetics from Michigan State University.Dr. Ragina brings over a decade of experience in academic research leadership, with a strong focus on population health and medical education research, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health, disability studies, and vaccine hesitancy in rural and medically underserved populations. She has been awarded or has served as Co-Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on multiple state, federal, and foundation grants. In recognition of her outstanding research contributions, she received the 2023 Excellence in Research Award and 2025 Provost Award for Exemplary Research and Scholarship from Central Michigan University.A seasoned leader in biomedical science, population health and medical education research, Dr. Ragina integrates her translational research expertise with a strategic vision for advancing academic medicine. She has proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams, mentor emerging scholars, and align research priorities with institutional mission and vision.
