I am a CFA level 2 candidate, preparing for Nov 2023. I have completed my Bachelor in Business administration from NMIMS\'s ASMSOC with a Marketing specialization. Since a young age, I have always been intrigued by the question of why people buy, and what they buy. This curiosity led me to choose Marketing as my specialization. But after trying to do sales, starting a small-scale food business, and some marketing courses I realized that the medium of communication has changed completely and has become more and more digital. Even after having the opportunity to study in one of the best colleges, learn from industry experts, and be a part of creatively stimulating group projects alongside the brightest minds, I came to a late realization that I\'m not best suited for this career path in Marketing. While in college I started trading equity markets like every other person in lockdown. The same question of-\'why do people buy, what they buy again hooked me into understanding equity, currency, and commodity markets. In the pursuit of finding the answer to this question, I started learning about technical analysis by reading books, watching videos, and addictively observing the markets move. Slowly and steadily started using basic strategies and came up with new strategies of price action. Made money sometimes, lost money most of the time but gained experience every time. After several months of watching the markets for several hours every day, I convinced a relative to trade on their account of around 10 lakh rupees. I started taking swing and positional trades on stocks using technical analysis + major economic demand-supply news+ bought stocks that did not rally compared to their peers. Majorly due to luck and being at the right place at the right time I was able to cash out around 9% return in two months. After this successful attempt, The Next step was to understand derivatives(F&O), the structure of options, and different strategies for different types of markets. It was just a different ball game, again repeating the same journey of making money sometimes, losing multiple times, and gaining experience every time. After gaining some knowledge in technicals and derivatives, recently I have been majorly focusing on fundamental investing, and macroeconomic trading. CFA course studies have helped me do so. Currently, I am building a long-term conservative portfolio with equity, debt, and gold allocations totaling to around 90 lakhs rupees. Hopefully, perseverance to improve, calculated risk-taking, and luck pays off as it has in the past.
