ABOUT NEKESA MUMBI MOODY

I’m a five-time Emmy-nominated, award-winning journalist and editor who has helped shape the cultural narrative for over two decades—breaking major stories, profiling icons and rising stars, and expanding the lens through which we view entertainment.Most recently, I served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Hollywood Reporter, after three years as Editorial Director, where I led a dynamic team of 70+ journalists across print, digital, and video. During my tenure, we produced headline-driving stories—from the Scott Rudin investigation to the first in-depth piece on Wendy Williams’ decline—and earned accolades including a Webby Award, multiple LA Press Club and National Arts & Entertainment Award wins, and THR’s first-ever ASME nomination. I also executive produced Emmy-nominated episodes of THR’s signature Roundtable series.Prior to THR, I spent 22 years at The Associated Press, including eight as Global Entertainment & Lifestyles Editor. I managed coverage of the Oscars, Grammys, and Cannes; broke the news of Whitney Houston’s death; launched AP’s Breakthrough Entertainers Awards; and conducted in-depth interviews with artists like Prince, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé.Today, I continue to write pieces and moderate conversations that push the culture, and the industry, forward.
