About Neil Naraine

As a seasoned government affairs and policy executive, I have expertise in multiple industries, been successful in both public and private sectors, and excel in both domestic and global arenas. In my current role as Senior Director of Government Relations, I direct all aspects of energy and environment external legislative, regulatory, policy, and political operations for Fortune 500 pulp and packaging company.Before joining International Paper in 2017, I held a senior level position in government relations in the electric utility industry. Earlier in my career, I spent several years on Capitol Hill focused on energy and environmental issues, worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US. Department of Energy (DOE), and was appointed as a United States representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria. Currently, I serve as co-chair of the Development Committee on the U.S. Capitol Historic Society, the premiere organization that provides civic education to the public about the history of the capitol.I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Engineering and Georgetown University with a M.S. in Physics and an MBA. I am based in Washington, DC, and when not working I enjoy spending family time at the beach on the Eastern Shore of Delaware.

    Active member of a high-level, 5-person task force responsible for developing new strategic business opportunities while decarbonizing and monetizing IP’s operations. Led successful U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant applications for carbon capture and sequestration.(CCS) projects, advancing corporate decarbonization strategy. Currently Chair of Government Affairs Committee, Council of Industrial Boiler Owners (CIBO). Served as Coordinating Chairman of Business Round Table’s (BRT) Energy & Environment Committee, representing company and broader cross sector industry efforts. • Led BRT\'s most successful digital campaign - “CEO-to-CEO Sustainability Video Challenge” of top 100 U.S. companies, marketing first use of social media to highlight corporate America’s sustainability efforts, successful in driving +70M impressions.
