This position came as part of my summer studentship at the UCL IRDR Centre for Digital Public Health in Emergencies.Over Summer 2023, I have been working with a dataset collected by the UCL IRDR\'s MyLockdownJournal app during Covid-19 with the aim of understanding how daily self-reported behaviour and activity changed with lockdown stringency in the UK. This has involved a lot of work with Python and Stata to understand the userbase demographics, the types of activity reported, and finally statistical models for daily activity during Covid-19. I am in the process of writing the research up for publishing, but key results so far are:(i) Daily activity was significantly sensitive to the level of lockdown stringency on a particular day,(ii) Activity on a particular day was significantly sensitive to a change in lockdown stringency, either on that day, the day before it, or the day after Physical activity (specifically walking) had a positive relationship with lockdown stringency,(iv) Creative activities increased with lockdown stringency specifically in urban areas, whereas non-urban areas responded to tightening lockdowns with increased physical activity,(v) Working habits after June 2020 did not change with changes in lockdown stringency. Looking forward to publishing these in full.I\'ve also worked with the team in correspondence with the NHS at Whittington Health Trust on design and development of a gamified training app to fight resource wastage and antimicrobial resistance in UTI diagnosis and management.

ABOUT NEIL MAJITHIA
I\'ve been doing research for a long time now, taking different roles in a range of subject matters and niches while remaining true to my principles: every technological development needs to be analysed for its effects on society and the world around us. I\'m uniquely placed to do that analysis: as an Economics graduate (BSc from UCL, 2023), I learnt how individuals and organisations behave in response to innovations, disasters, and the like, but my analysis can go much further because of the high technical proficiency I\'ve built over the last few years.Outside of my university education in statistics, econometrics, finance, and risk, I have acquired and utilised a extremely high-level skillset in the nitty-gritty code behind data science, machine learning, and AI. Python is my go-to tool (Tensorflow, PyTorch included) although I\'ve done lots of work with Stata and R as well as HTML/CSS/JS for front-end development and Wolfram Mathematica.Importantly, though, I can translate technical know-how into good writing. I\'ve won a national award for my journalism as a student, and I won Best Paper at the first international conference I went to (with strong commendation for my presentation too). My portfolio of writing at the ODI should show that off to the extreme: whether describing the inner machinations of privacy technology, exploring the ways people choose to trust innovations, or getting my hands dirty with experiments on LLMs, I\'ve been able to keep on drawing out clear insights that truly mean something. I\'ll keep doing that, wherever I am and whatever role I have. It\'s just the way I work.My portfolio is available on request.
