ABOUT NEIL MAHARAJ
I’m a Respirologist based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with over 20 years of clinical experience in respiratory medicine. My work spans general respirology, pulmonary function testing, COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and respiratory infections including COVID-19 and tuberculosis. As the owner and medical director of Niagara Pulmonary Medicine & Diagnostics, I oversee all clinical activities and manage our pulmonary function lab. We are a community-based specialty clinic focused on delivering high-quality, accessible care for patients with complex pulmonary needs.Alongside my clinical work, I am actively engaged in provincial medical leadership through the Ontario Medical Association. As Chair of the Medical Network, I represent Ontario’s medical subspecialties, working to address cross-cutting issues that impact specialists across the province. I also serve as Chair of the Section of Respiratory Disease, advocating on behalf of more than 350 respirologists.I have a strong interest in health technology particularly where they intersect with clinical workflow, documentation, and decision support in respirology. I believe these tools have the potential to ease burden, improve access, and deliver better outcomes.I also conduct Independent Medical Evaluations, providing expert opinions in complex legal, insurance, and disability-related cases involving respiratory disease.Throughout my career, I have stayed committed to continuous learning and forward-thinking practice. I am always looking for meaningful ways to contribute, whether through innovation, leadership, or direct patient care.
