About Neil Lewis
Neil Lewis, Jr is a behavioral scientist, professor, speaker, and writer. He is a Nancy and Peter Meinig Family Investigator in the Life Sciences, and Associate Professor of Communication, Medicine, and Public Policy at Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medicine. Lewis’s research examines how people’s social contexts and identities influence how they make sense of the world around them, and the implications of those perceptions for their motivation to pursue a variety of goals in life. He is interested in the consequences of those processes not only for individuals, but also for the communities, organizations, and societies in which those individuals are embedded.Lewis is committed to using research insights to improve societal outcomes. As a result, he spends a lot of time sharing research insights as a public speaker and writer. He frequently gives keynote addresses at a variety of events. He has also written many public-facing articles for a variety of newspapers and magazines, including: the Atlantic, FiveThirtyEight, Harvard Business Review, and Washington Post.Lewis received his B.A. in economics and psychology from Cornell University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Michigan.
