About Neil Krohn
Expertise in utilization, clinical, and quality analytics. Exceptional knowledge of medical, behavioral health, and pharmacy claims. Extensive experience identifying cost of care drivers via predictive modeling. • Demonstrated $1.3M in cost of care savings for Autism Spectrum Disorder provider and services management program. Designed evaluation plan based on hybrid authorization-claims analysis, when claims data alone proved insufficient to capture program-generated savings. • Created algorithm for monetizing savings accruing from pharmacy & lab reminder program. Overcame initial barriers to sizing monetary impact by multi-sourcing cost data and trending costs savings from both medical adverse events and cost of compliance variables. PMPM savings varied by medical diagnosis, frequency of adverse events, and cost of compliance. • Evaluated predictive model identifying members with BH diagnoses likely to be hospitalized. At-risk members outreached via IVR showed inpatient rates 5% lower for members contacted. • Reduced clinical adverse events by 33% in a medication education pilot. Implemented a quasi-experimental design using medical claims, engagement metrics, and clinical measures to model patient characteristics, types of services, and number of participants needed to maximize clinical benefits and cost savings. • Built business case for potential use of social media (Twitter) to identify and outreach members with behavioral health diagnoses (keyword search using Radian6 software). Estimated $1M to $3M annual cost savings from service referrals. See more about my interests and projects on ResearchGate: Neil Krohn on ResearchGate
