ABOUT NEIL BAILEY

I possess over 20 years\' experience of operating in Director roles, with a particularly emphasis on developing - and fundraising for - projects that engage people with nature and environmental issues. I am an all-rounder who is attracted to tackling \'frontier\' or \'start-up\' challenges. My skill set includes environmental / conservation management, leadership, innovation, communications, networking, grant-making and fundraising across multiple income streams. My academic background prior to this was in the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Landscape Ecology to maximise Natural Capital / biodiversity gain at a landscape scale. In 2004, I became one of the world\'s first developers of mobile apps (the iPhone didn\'t arrive till 2007) and subsequently co-founded, and became CEO of, a University spin-out (WildKnowledge) which specialised in enabling members of the public to use mobile devices to gather environmental data (citizen science).I have held various Director level roles at Earthwatch Europe since 2015, developing and building fundraising and communications (often from first principles). I am responsible for an annual target of £3m funding from Individuals, Trusts and Foundations, Major Donors and Corporate Partnerships. I retain an optimism and passion for discovering and funding new ways to engage people from all walks of life with the natural world and for finding solutions to the pressing environmental challenges we face.
