ABOUT NEGIN HOUSHMAND
I specialize in applying Artificial Intelligence and automation to rock mechanics and geomechanical engineering. My work focuses on developing AI-driven tools for automated rock mass characterization, including a web-based platform for joint detection, RQD estimation, and joint orientation prediction.As a rock mechanics consultant, I assist in open-pit and underground mine design, leveraging numerical modeling techniques. My expertise includes mine and tunnel stability analysis, rock fragmentation simulation, and geomechanical risk assessment to support safe and efficient mining operations.During my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto, I developed machine learning and deep learning models that combined rock imaging and geochemistry for improved rock type prediction. I have also worked on various geomechanical simulations.Passionate about bridging AI with geomechanics, I am always open to discussions on automation, numerical modeling, and mining innovation.
