Propelled by Dr Rohit Singh and students team, 5G Innovation Cell at NIT Jalandhar is an initiative formed to explore, understand, and innovate within the rapidly evolving domain of next-generation wireless communication. With the world progressing toward smarter devices and connected ecosystems, this cell bridges the gap between academic learning and real-time 5G implementation. Backed by a fully equipped 5G Lab featuring equipment like 5G Core, Access Units (AU), and compatible Radio Units (RU), students receive both conceptual clarity and hands-on exposure. Real-world devices such as cameras, drones, and smart mobile devices are connected and tested within locally developed algorithms, giving students the opportunity to work on live communication setups. Under the guidance of Dr. Rohit, students are introduced to the evolution of communication, from 1G analog systems to modern 5G and beyond, understanding key concepts like beamforming, network slicing, low-latency data transmission, and the integration of AI with telecom. Vision To create a future-ready community of engineers who understand and drive the advancement of wireless communication by combining deep theoretical knowledge with practical lab-based experimentation. Mission To foster awareness and technical understanding of 5G and upcoming communication technologies. To provide hands-on experience through real-time experiments in the on-campus 5G lab.
