I think the development of human-level AI has the potential to be one of the most important things to happen this century, and the main focus of my research is on ensuring that this is a robustly good thing for the world. Currently, this looks like staring REALLY hard at transformers and trying to figure out how they work. I consider myself part of the Effective Altruism community, and this has been a significant influence on my career decisions.
