The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is Germany’s national agency for EU Higher Education Cooperation and is widely recognized as the largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. The organization operates 57 offices worldwide and employs around 1,200 staff members.Key Functions of DAAD- Funds international mobility for students, researchers, and academic staff through scholarships, research stays, and training programmes- Builds institutional capacity via academic partnerships, joint degree programmes, and Centres of Excellence- Strengthens university governance, curriculum development, digitalisation, quality assurance, international visibility/marketing- Advises ministries and agencies on higher education reform and regional harmonisation- Supports vulnerable and at-risk scholars in crisis contexts- Promotes academic freedom, science diplomacy, and the link between higher education, sustainability, and innovationResponsibilities- Acquisition and implementation of EU-funded and other donor-funded higher education projects (service, grant and PACA contracts), supporting international academic cooperation- Part of the Centre of Competence for EU projects, providing systematic support to other work units on project design and implementation- Expanding DAAD\'s EU operations and implementing internal standards, procedures, and tools to strengthen operational efficiency
