Adept at applying cutting-edge scientific principles, Neal supports significant growth opportunities in the highly competitive energy sector. He is an innovative research and development management professional with specific expertise in Academic-Industry knowledge transfer and is a high-regarded expert in Chemical Technologies who has applied learnings from a wide range of disciplines across organisational boundaries to add value to a multitude of projects.He joined Shell in 2009 having previously been seconded by the University of Cambridge to the Shell Technology Centre Thornton as an EU-funded Marie Curie post-doctoral research fellow specialising in simulating combustion in engines. He gained further experience in fuels R&D before moving into lubricants where he spent the next ten years covering early-stage R&D activities, managing the University Technology Centre for fuels & lubricants at Imperial College, London and was the technical manager of the Shell’s lubricants additives portfolio. Most recently he moved into manufacturing technology and has spent the last few years supporting Shell’s refining endeavours around the world where he’s covered the introduction of new feedstocks, developed new manufacturing processes and de-risked novel componentry from other refinery streams.He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
