About Monica Ochoa Porter
I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, and began working at The Boeing Company in June 2018. I started my full-time career working on the Loads and Dynamics Team for the Space Launch System (SLS) Program in Huntsville, AL, which is NASA\'s project to put the first woman on the surface of the moon and the first humans on the surface of Mars. In June 2020, I started Boeing’s Engineering Career Foundation Program (ECFP), which is a two-year rotation program dedicated to developing early career engineering talent for the Boeing enterprise. I also completed my Master\'s in Astronautical Engineering from USC in May 2021 while working full-time. Today, I lead the Human Factors Engineering efforts on the CST-100 Starliner program where we design safe and usable crew interfaces meant to help our astronauts accomplish their tasks successfully in all phases of the mission.Aside from the technicality of being an engineer, I am also very interested in advancing my leadership and management skills. I am an active professional member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) within Boeing, and recently won a National Award with the organization. I am also heavily involved with other organizations such as the Hispanic Scholarship Foundation (HSF), a Boeing - Notre Dame Engineering Design Teams Mentoring Partnership and the local Notre Dame Alumni Club. I previously served as a young alumni member of Notre Dame’s College of Engineering Advisory Council and am currently a member of HSF’s Houston Advisory Council.
