About Nate Deans
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” Nelson Mandela. Education is vital to help others thrive as productive citizens in society. It is my belief that every student has the ability to learn and be successful no matter their circumstances. I have taught English 11, Honors English 11, English 12, Composition, Advanced Composition, Communications Media, Multicultural Ethnic Literature and History, and African American Literature and History. Throughout my time as a teacher, I have developed skills in teaching struggling readers and writers, enhancing curriculum to reflect culturally relevant teaching and equity, and teach engaging lessons that promote learning. It is my belief that service learning is a dynamic component of education, and I have facilitated various service learning projects that allow my students to serve their communities as well as begin conversations on cultural relevant practices. As a mentor teacher, I have had the opportunity to mentor new teachers and build confidence in their skills and teaching practices as educators.
