I\'m mostly found wrangling with both the written and spoken word, trying to craft the perfect content and story. Which is why I\'m a writer by profession. I am ever intrigued by what makes people tick, as likely to be inspired by the common woman\'s (or man\'s) story as I am by a leader\'s journey. Which matches my current role in internal communications. My checkered 18-year career has centered around wordsmithing, people development and engagement. I’m fascinated with the concept of “vuja de” – looking at something familiar with a never-before seen fresh perspective. My freelancing and volunteer experiences help me bring unusual perspectives to the table. I\'ve adapted quickly to diverse domains, starting out in the field of Biotechnology education for 3 years, switching over to content writing for various industries, shifting into communications for technology and business, then employee communications for talent management, performance management and engagement sensing. In my current role in communications and engagement in EY, I help promote and embed key messages for the Global Business Development and Market Enablement teams across channels. It’s been 15+ years of spearheading communications, content and creative projects, reaching diverse global audiences with varied formats and styles, on the web, email, social media and digital platforms. I love delving into and translating subject matter into creative marketing ideas and storylines to promote products and services, and to engage communities. Teaming up with talented media designers to pair my words with their creative visuals has been the high point of my communications career. In my strategic employee communications role over 2.5 years in Infosys, I harnessed the power of the written word to shape audience behavior. My biggest success is a long-running (50 episodes over 1 year) virtual event series broadcasting conversations around careers, with equal focus on leader perspectives and employee voices sharing their stories. I’ve extensively applied my passion for people development, starting from academia to my corporate career and mentoring in Toastmasters. In my 7-year stint in Accenture, I facilitated my teams’ development and engagement, elicited their high performance, and delivered training modules in business communications. I love public speaking, but am more often found listening. I\'ve enjoyed my run of evaluation contests. I\'ve been a Toastmaster for 5.5 years. I\'ve been Club President and VP Membership and am currently (remote) Area Director in District 123 (Toronto).
