About Navin Vij

Navin Vij, MD, MSc, is a board-certified internist, physician executive, scientist, and advocate committed to system-wide change in population health and healthcare delivery. Over the last ten years, his efforts have included forming, facilitating, and leading multidisciplinary teams dedicated to systems-based improvement in access, care coordination, efficacy, and evidenced-based value, primarily focused on complex populations. Navin’s physician leadership and influential civic roles span academics, operations, clinical care delivery, policy, advocacy, and translational research. Navin has assisted several organizations in achieving better clinical, financial, and operational outcomes through innovative adjustments in their population health strategies, particularly as they align with caring for Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual Eligible patients. Navin currently serves as the Regional Medical Director for Hospital and Community Care at ChenMed, where he supports the Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Ohio markets. Before joining ChenMed, Navin was a Physician Scientist and Academic Hospitalist with the Institute for Research on Equity and Community Health at ChristianaCare and was previously a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. His research has been published in journals such as Pediatrics and the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved.Beyond his clinical and research interests, Navin has also been an advocate, speaker, and writer focused on the health policy design of delivery for vulnerable patients. He serves on the Advisory Group on HSR Innovation, Inclusion, and Impact for AcademyHealth and the Advisory Committee for the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable. He was a Co-founder of the Clinician Action Network and has served on the Board of Directors for multiple non-profits. He is a recipient of the Gold Foundation’s Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, and was named a 40 Under 40 Leader in Health by the National Minority Quality Forum and the Delaware Business Times. His work has been nationally featured in print and radio, including USA Today, CBS News, and National Public Radio/WHYY’s The Pulse.Navin completed his undergraduate and medical degree as a Rice University/Baylor College of Medicine Medical Scholar, while also a Hansard Scholar at the London School of Economics. He went on to complete a Med-Peds Residency and Chief Residency at Case Western Reserve University. Navin also holds a Master of Science in Health Policy Research from the University of Pennsylvania.
