About Navid Mahooti
I practice Sports Medicine, Non-Surgical Regenerative Orthopedics, and Lifestyle Medicine. I care for athletes and active people (and not-yet active people) of all skill levels, from teenagers to seniors. My approach is entirely non-surgical. I use Point of Care Musculoskeletal UltraSound (POCUS) to aid in diagnosis and to perform image-guided injections such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), nerve and fascial plane hydrodissection, corticosteroids, viscosupplements, and others procedures for myriad orthopedic problems and sports injuries.I have a particular interest in Myofascial Pain & Trigger Points (MTrPs) — a commonly overlooked, painful condition that mimics and/or is strongly associated with nearly every orthopedic & musculoskeletal problem. I perform and teach fellow physicians a procedure I call \"Therapeutic Needling,” an empirically developed technique that’s an amalgam of Dry Needling, Trigger Point Injection, & Acupuncture. It is like Dry Needling, only better. I serve as chair of the Therapeutic Needling preconference workshop for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, lead workshops for Family Physicians at the American Academy of Family Physicians annual \"FMX\" meeting, invited to present at the AAOM meeting in March, 2026 in Pensacola, FL, and have presented grand rounds and other lecture at various institutions and venues. I wrote the inaugural chapter on Myofascial Pain and Trigger Points for the 5 Minute Clinical Consult - Sports Medicine (2019), and submitted the manuscript for the updated chapter (Volume 4 of the book) in 2025 (expected publication 2026).
