About Navdeep Kang
I\'ve been fortunate to enjoy the opportunity to learn from and work alongside countless people dedicated to improving their world. Creating change often requires reaching across the lines that historically divide us - but once we begin to genuinely collaborate, we can create effective and lasting solutions for even our most-challenging problems.I have also learned that the contribution of psychologists can go beyond traditional clinical assessment and intervention - that our skills can translate into facilitating systemic change at any level. I\'m grateful for the mentors, colleagues, and opportunities I\'ve encountered along my professional path. I hope to continue contributing to our community\'s journey to a better future for many years to come.
Experience
Fellow
Apr 2018 — Present
Personally selected by President and Mrs. Obama, the Obama Foundation Fellows are powerful examples of the many pathways we can take to improve our communities. These civic leaders bring a variety of disciplines and skill sets to their work – including community organizing, healthcare, technology, and the arts – and they apply those talents to a range of missions, from empowering parents and teachers to improve our schools, to ensuring deaf children have equal access to literacy tools, to bringing trauma-informed care to the criminal justice system and refugee camps, to working with partners across the healthcare system to treat addiction collaboratively. These leaders are working hand-in-hand with their communities to build better futures. They understand that creating change often requires reaching out across the lines that divide us. And their successes to date show how collaborative, community-driven work can lead to strong, imaginative, and long-lasting solutions – even on some of our most intractable and polarizing problems.I was selected for the Fellowship for founding and leading the Addiction Treatment Collaborative, a multi-agency, multidisciplinary effort to develop a comprehensive treatment-on-demand network of care for addiction medicine services across southwest Ohio.
