ABOUT JOSHUA NAVARRO

My name is Joshua Navarro. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor\'s of Science in Chemical Engineering. Through my experiences with leadership, projects, and coursework, I have found that I enjoy systems-level problem-solving and possess a keen interest in process engineering.When I approach an engineering problem, I first analyze the overall system and deduce the effects this problem has on the system and then determine an optimal solution based on the resources provided. I also believe this type of problem solving is most supplemented by team efforts. I have had edifying team experiences since high school and it has fostered a passion for group dynamics. I believe these facets, will be able to cultivate an innovative environment that will produce new ideas to further energy technology.I have a particular interest in process engineering and hope to contribute to the industry by employing process modeling concepts, learned in class, and familiarity with energy systems to resolve issues and present cost-effective solutions. I was granted the opportunity to cooperatively lead a project group now called the Campus Renewable Energy Team, whose goal was to design an off-grid energy system based on a solar/PEM fuel cell hybrid that would ultimately supply power to a hospital. I seized the chance to practically apply and demonstrate the engineering/management concepts I have learned from class and internships, which ultimately generated over $2,250 in funding, provided a feasible design that will be used for our pilot study, and achieved Best Pitch, an award granted by AIChE at UC San Diego.
