Our ancestors dreamed of now. Sagan said,\"The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean.\"Galileo and Kepler wrote of the vessels they dreamed of, with sails adapted for heavenly aether, through which humanity would begin to explore our universe. They plotted the courses we would take.They planned and worked and wrote and built so that now we can finally start setting sail. Longshot is building a system that will bridge the cliffs of our native gravity well and grant us a pier in the celestial seas.The technical team at Longshot is building the hardware and technology stack that makes this Work possible, and I\'m honored to lead the development effort.

   Longshot is building kinetic hypersonic accelerators to reduce the cost of hypersonic testing and ultimately space launch by orders of magnitude.Longshot\'s approach to space launch is not only technologically simple and fundamentally safer than rockets, it is one of very few methods of space launch that has the potential to use entirely sustainable energy sources.To access space reliably and inexpensively requires reimagining what our launch infrastructure should look like and making a ground-up examination of the kinds of projects that are technologically simple and easy to build at scale. Longshot\'s core technology could have been built a hundred years ago. The space launch accelerator, with careful design, will cost about as much as a bridge.
