I write about the companies and strategy behind the apps we use on a daily basis — Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, AI chatbots, Waymo — and the marketplaces and cultures these technological intermediaries have created. If I’ve messaged you, it’s because I’m hoping to learn about the forces that have so much influence on everyday consumer behavior and by extension the economics of labor, housing, mobility, and more.Before covering tech, I had moved to NYC from my home city of Hong Kong to work on Bloomberg’s news automation efforts for corporate earnings and US elections.In Hong Kong, I spent three years covering politics and economy, contributing to award-winning coverage of the tumultuous periods of the historic pro-democracy protests, the Chinese government’s crackdown and the Covid pandemic. I also reported on the Greater China economy during the 2018 US-China trade war, delivering exclusive analysis on the impact of tariffs ahead of competitors.My work has been recognized and shortlisted by various award committees across the US and Asia, including the New York Press Club, The Gerald Loeb Awards, The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), AAJA-Asia, The Sigma Awards and The Online Journalism Awards.
