ABOUT JAMIE WALLACE
Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m a UI/UX Designer and Front End Developer based in Manchester, England. I enjoy working on challenging design projects such as enterprise applications or mobile apps that display a lot of data. The landscape for UI designers has changed and I\'ve had to rethink my design approach from traditional kanban to that of agile. As such I have since come to master atomic design principles. Most of my UI design work has to be modular and versionable in nature, and tools such as Figma or Sketch promote this way of working heavily. I\'m also a keen front end developer, and I love nothing more than executing my own designs. I\'ve learnt a lot about the state of modern web development, and whilst in the past, I designed and built bespoke WordPress themes, I now tend to lean towards the modern stack and my go-to software is the Ruby powered Jekyll. Combined with Forestry.io (CMS) & Netlify.com (CI/Hosting), it\'s a force to be reckoned with and I can give any Wordpress site a run for its money. I also have around 13 years of experience in the advertising/marketing sector under my belt. I\'ve had the pleasure of executing solely or working on a multitude of highly successful creative campaigns for many well-known brands, such as Sainsbury’s Bank, Pets at Home, Princes Group, SSL International (Durex), U.P.S, Intercontinental Hotels Group and American Airlines. Notable skills: • Experience with user interface design patterns and standard User-Centered Design methodologies and the design process. • An eye for aesthetics: layout, grid systems, colour theory and typography. • Experience designing presentations, infographics and other data visualisations. • Strong knowledge of modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Principle/Protopie, Invision and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite,(Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects) • In-Depth knowledge of front-end languages such as HTML5, CSS3. • Some JavaScript experience. • Wordpress/Jekyll development (liquid/handlebars) • Versioning (GIT) • Excellent time-management, multi-tasking and communication skills. • Capable of juggling multiple projects and related complexities at the same time, including ad-hoc projects as they come up, under timeline pressure. • Confident communicating at all levels within a company and liaising directly with clients. • Able to integrate UX into Agile development practices. • Quick learner and self-starter - willing to learn and apply new knowledge.
